You Are What You Eat – Go With Healthy Food and Lose Weight

Have you heard that famous adage, you are what you eat? You may have thought it was simply a phrase used by parents who would like their kids to eat their veggies but you actually are what you eat! For instance, the amino acids found in the tuna from a tuna sandwich are broken down and used by your body to build muscle and grow new cells. When you take in a lot of junk food, you may find that your complexion changes and you look heavier, whereas when you consume healthy foods, your overall appearance is improved. So, diet is the first place to start at when you want to lose weight. When your diet is unhealthy, working out too will not benefit you. Your diet must consist of healthy satisfying meals. The next step is to determine what nutritious foods you must include in your weight loss diet plan. Obviously, a major goal is to bring down the number of calories you take in so you can shed off some pounds, but you don’t want to go overboard and get so hungry that you overindulge on junk food. It’s a good idea to slowly change your eating habits by slowly adding healthy food and decreasing the number of calories you eat. Bit by bit replace your meals and snacks with newer, more nourishing options. Protein is the first thing to put in your diet. Your body has to have protein to repair cells and build muscle, on top of other things. You can have enough of protein in your diet through foods such as meats (chicken, pork, beef), eggs or soya products. Carbohydrates are the second most important nutrient you should include in your diet. Don’t go crazy on carbs, though, since too many will just turn into fat if the energy from them isn’t used! Go for foods including whole grain bread and brown rice for your carbohydrate needs. And keep in mind, you also need fat in your diet. Yes, fats! I know you’re losing fat but you nevertheless have to consume them. Opt for healthy fats including those you’ll find in nuts and fish. Also, consume a large amount of fresh vegetables and fruits so that your body receives all the vitamins and minerals it needs. Losing weight can be a difficult task if you are not prepared.

food you must try to eliminate. It goes without saying that you must reduce your consumption of the empty calories of junk food, and it’s a good idea to only consume lean meats. Don’t eat processed (or simple) sugars (things like refined bread and pasta), try to aim for complex and whole carbs, like the brown rice mentioned previously. Avoid alcohol as much as you can as it will impede your weight loss attempts.

Now you are aware of what you should and shouldn’t consume. Look at your normal eating habits and come up with a few ways to make your meals better. If eating too much at one sitting is a concern, eat 5 to 6 smaller meals during the day so that your tummy will shrink and require less food.
